Playa del Carmen is a small and charming beach town that has grown substantially, as a tourist destination over the last few years. While Playa del Carmen is close to Cancun the two towns are very different. Whereas Cancun today is a rather large, face paced city with numerous huge all inclusive resorts, Playa del Carmen is much smaller, has a more relaxed ambiance with a cosmopolitan feel.
